Can #613 blonde hair be toned or dyed?
#613 is the lightest shade we make, which makes it the easiest to colour. What works, what does not, and how to keep it soft afterwards.

Quick answer: Yes. #613 has already been lifted, so it takes toner, semi-permanent colour and darker permanent shades evenly. What you should not do is lift it further with bleach. Test every colour on a few strands first, go darker in small steps, and condition more than you would your own hair.
#613 is the lightest shade on our list: a pale golden blonde. We make it from unprocessed Remy temple hair that is lifted in our Delhi facility and then wefted, tipped or ventilated. Because the colour work is already done, #613 is the shade to start from if you want to tone, go pastel, or pick a colour we do not make.
Toning #613
Toner adjusts the blonde rather than changing it: cooler, warmer, more beige or more platinum. Mix it with a low-volume developer, as the toner's instructions say, apply it evenly to damp hair and check it every few minutes. Lifted hair takes toner quickly, so it can go further than the chart suggests. Rinse as soon as the shade is right, then condition.
For upkeep between tonings, a purple or silver shampoo once a week keeps brassiness down. Using it more often dries the hair and can leave a lilac cast.
Going darker
#613 takes darker shades easily, which is also the trap: very light hair grabs colour fast and can end up darker or flatter than expected. Two habits avoid that:
- Go one or two levels at a time. A honey or caramel blonde from #613 is straightforward; a dark brown in one step can turn out murky.
- Fill first for brown. Lifted hair has lost its warm pigment. Colourists add it back with a gold or copper filler before a brown, so the result is not green or ash.
If what you want is a warm golden blonde, #27 honey blonde is already made; if you want a natural black or brown, our natural shades are cheaper than colouring #613 down.
Pastels and fashion shades
Semi-permanent and direct-dye colours, pinks, lilacs, blues and silvers, show their truest shade on #613. They wash out gradually, so expect to refresh them. Mix the colour with conditioner for a paler pastel, and test on one weft before colouring a full set.
What not to do
- Do not bleach #613 again. The hair has already been lifted; lifting it further makes it brittle.
- Keep colour off bonds, tape and lace. On tape-ins and keratin tips, colour the lengths only. On a frontal or closure, keep dye off the lace unless you mean to tint it.
- Do not skip the strand test. Take a few strands from the end of a weft, colour them and let them dry before you judge the shade.
Aftercare
Coloured blonde hair needs more moisture than anything else you own. Wash with a sulphate-free, colour-safe shampoo, condition every time, add a mask every week, and keep heat tools under 180 °C with a protectant. With proper care, coloured #613 lasts 3–5 years like every other shade we sell.
Why #613 costs more than natural black, and what the lifting involves, is covered in why #27 and #613 cost more. To shop the shade, start with #613 straight bundles or the whole #613 collection.
Frequently asked questions
- Can you put toner on #613 hair?
- Yes. #613 takes toner quickly and evenly. Use a low-volume developer as the toner's instructions say, check every few minutes and rinse as soon as the shade is right.
- Can I dye #613 hair black?
- You can, ideally in steps and with a filler first, so the result is not flat or green. If you want natural black, #1B bundles are simpler and cost less.
- Can I bleach #613 hair to make it lighter?
- We do not recommend it. #613 has already been lifted; more bleach makes the hair brittle. Use toner to change its tone instead.
- Does dyeing #613 shorten its life?
- Toning and deposit colour do not, as long as you condition more. With proper care, coloured #613 lasts 3–5 years.
